Not a proper review as such, because it's not quite released yet, but Cnet Australia take an interest in the AU$2299 Panasonic HS200 Hard Drive "full-HD" camcorder.
"We had a brief hands-on session with this little unit in Singapore, and overall we were pretty impressed with its ease of use and clear image quality. Inside the demure unit, which is clad in silver and grey plastic, sits an 80GB hard drive and SD recording capability — a feature which Panasonic is quick to tout as "hybrid". It's capable of capturing still images at 10.6 megapixels, and has a touchscreen which proved to be quite responsive. " |

Cnet cast their fingers on the flash memory based HDR-CX12E camcorder and give it a 4 out of 5. Click the linky to find out how they came to that conclusion!
"Kin to the hard-disk-based HDR-SR11, the Sony Handycam HDR-CX12 delivers the same midlevel feature set and excellent HD video quality in a more compact body that instead records to Sony Memory Stick Duo Pro flash media." |

PC Magazine give a lowdown on several different HD camcorders for 'every budget'. Of course they mention the Flip Mino HD, but they've also got Creative's Vado HD, a few still cameras with video added on afterwards, and one proper camcorder each from Canon, JVC, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony. This page contains a summary of the camcorders, but there's proper reviews of all of them. Get yourself a drink, sit down (which you're probably doing already) and take a nice big read. "Movies, TV, and even YouTube have gone high-def. So why are you still shooting standard-definition video? Join the HD revolution with one of these shooters." |
