Nope, not another "hysterical parent blames technology for their obviously-neglected kid's sociopathic behaviour"... Techcrunch get all upset that their video download tool has been zapped by YouTube, presumably to do with their Pay-To-Download service! "In the last 24 hours our tool stopped working, but every other method I've tried has worked fine so far, including a handful of other websites and popular Firefox extensions. It's possible that YouTube was just disabling a certain technique of creating links to their video files that we happened to use, but it's more likely that they singled us out (our tool has become very popular, and ranks second when you run a Google search for "download YouTube")." |

USA Today talk to the co-founders of video network Blip.TV and get a bit of background info on who they are, what they stand for, and why their site is different to the other video sharing sites. "Blip was formed in 2005, with the basic idea that on the Web, anybody can be a video star. Its shows are devoted to everything from gaming and comics fandom to tips on woodworking and making won-ton soup. What you won't see on Blip are amateur videos like those seen on YouTube and other video sites." |
