Whilst it's almost brain-meltingly obvious that YouTube is the most popular video sharing website, Revver.com is probably the best in terms of flexibility and support. Why? Here's another good article from Patrick McGowan on why Revver is a film maker's YouTube. |

Simple image/video hosting site TinyPic.com now allow you to upload High Def video (although only 5 minutes long instead of 15 minutes for SD video). Cnet's Josh Loweson demonstrates an example. "The service's main appeal is that you can quickly upload and share these videos with friends, all without having to register. You can also upload an unlimited number of videos, however each one can only be up to five minutes long in length if it's in HD." |

I don't know if this is something that Apple particularly care about, but it will be great if Windows 7 natively plays .mov format videos, because that means I won't have to install QuickTime on my Windows PC (which in my opinion is second only to RealPlayer in terms of fiddliness). "One of the main points of criticisms in previous Windows operating systems was the lack of supported video codecs. Users always had to rely on third party codecs or independent video players to play some of the most common video formats properly." |

I just had to put this one in. I completely agree with what they're saying. The RealPlayer software is absolute crap. It really, really is. I've been happily using RealPlayer Alternative for a few years, and it does what you need it to do! "Armed with these open source alternatives, users can eliminate the nasty RealPlayer from their systems entirely, and sleep easier at night knowing they are supporting open standards based software." |
