Listen to that Rumour mill cranking up again...

"Two separate sites seem to be in consistency with a rumor on Final Cut Studio 3 being released shortly. However, Apple is said to initially release a 32-bit version of the suite testing updates to the video software. Soon after, a 64-bit Final Cut Studio 3 will allegedly be compatible only with Snow Leopard due to system requirements."

Following on from The Unofficial Apple Weblog's story on Monday, Register Hardware have put the Elgato Turbo.264 HD Hi-def H.264 encoder on their bench, poked it, prodded it, then inserted it into their Mac to see whether it could live up to it's promises.

"Turbo.264 HD's camcorder support continues with the ability to drive a connected camera to extract AVCHD footage from it."

The Unofficial Apple Weblog write about Elgato's time-saving device: the USB-based Turbo.264 HD.

"The Turbo.264 HD promises to dramatically reduce importation time for AVCHD clips and offload the work of transcoding them from the computer's processor. If it works as advertised, it's going to be very popular with HD camcorder users."

Another top how-to guide for the Apple crowd from Digital Media Net. Encoding to Blu Ray from Final Cut Pro 6.

"Are you working with Blu-ray on an Apple, perhaps with Toast (check out my review of version9), or maybe you're using Adobe Encore CS4 for Mac (my review is coming soon), but you're editing high definition (HD) footage with Final Cut Pro 6.x.  How do you encode it to Blu-ray?"

According to the occasionally reliable AppleInsider, Apple are expected to release a new version of the Final Cut Studio package at this years NAB event.
